The Harry Potter Spells Tag

Greatings fellow book lovers.

I think a big important thing about the book community is Harry Potter, half, or maybe more, of us consider J.K. Rowling a queen, me included. Harry Potter is one of the best series ever, I would be the happiest person ever if I could enter in this amazing world.

This book tag was originally created by Turtle Symphaty on youtube, I’ll link the video here but for some reason it is no longer available.

Here it goes, the Harry Potter Spells Tag:

1. EXPECTO PATRONUM : A childhood book connected to good memories.

CapturarNever Kiss a Witch! is the obvious answer for this one. I loved this book so much when I was a kid, I remember it was the first book that gave me the butterflies.

Something that I really enjoyed as a kid, actually nowadays i still enjoy it, is when the main character understands that the popular guy doesn’t deserve her attention and she finds other person that actually likes her, I believe I always valued the fact that you know that you deserve better than some stupid guy who believes he’s the center of the universe.

When I was looking for the goodreads link for Never kiss a witch!, I found out that it is actually a series and not a stand alone like I always thought it was, now I feel bad for my younger self, I should have read them all, they were really funny and sweet.

2. EXPELLIARMUS: A book that took you by surprise.

When I received this book I must admit that I was kind of disappointed, my sister had received Everything, Everything in the same day and I was just like “How can she have the book that I’ve been craving for?”. Overall, I ended up dnf-ing Everything, Everything and giving 4 starts to Finding Audrey on goodreads.

I am fully aware that Finding Audrey is full of flaws, the writing is not perfect, the side characters are not the best, but it doesn’t matter that much when you have a main character dealing with an issue that is very relatable nowadays, but even though this is a usual subject, it is never analysed enough and the way that the author deals with anxiety in here is really genuine.

 3. PRIOR INCANTATO: The last book you read.

I was very convinced that I would hate The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater as soon as I picked it out, but I wanted to see if the hype was true. When I finished it here’s what I published on goodreads:

Capturar

Maggie Stiefvater has the power of leaving me speechless whenever I finish one of her books, I can never organize my ideias and my feelings. I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO EVERYONE!

4. ALOHAMORA: A book that introduced you to a genre you had not considered before.

I have never been into non-fiction before, I thought that I wouldn’t like it, but turns out I read an amazing book called We should all fe feminists, since then I have read another book that was non-fiction and now I am really looking forward to read more books about feminism.

The other day, I came across this post about We Should All Be Feminists and I believe you should read it, the author has an amazing point of view about this topic and she has so much talent when it comes to writing.

I know that I talk about this book in every single tag, but I love it with every cell I have. 😁

5. RIDDIKULUS: A funny book you’ve read.

I think we all agree that the Percy Jackson books are funny as hell, the book I am going to choose for this one is Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods, I read it last year and I remember laughing so much while I was reading it.

I learned some things with this book:  1. I was right when I said that greek mythology was not boring at all; 2. HERA THREW LITTLE HEPHAESTUS OUT OF THE WINDOW! 3. That was lots of incest between the gods. 😒😒

6. SONORUS: A book you think everybody should know about.

I was here by Gayle Forman is a book that deals with suicide so you should have that in mind before picking it up.

Cody and Megan were best friends, inseparable, until Megan commites suicide and suddenly Cody starts to question how much did she actually knew about Megan’s recent life. Cody can’t handle the fact that Megan is dead, so she tries to find people to blame for her death.

This is an emotional story about redemption and “finding a way to move forward even in the face of unspeakable loss”.

I think that suicide is kind of a tabu topic on our society, you don’t want to talk about it when it happens in other families, you are not able to talk about it when it happens in yours. This has to change.

Something you must keep in mind is that this is your life, and even if you don’t have a saying on not getting depressed, you have a saying on getting better, you choose to get better. There is always something worth being alive for. Life is a gift, please don’t throw it away.

If you want to talk, you can contact me on twitter, talking makes things better, talking to a stranger may be easier than talking to a loved one.

7. OBLIVIATE: A book or spoiler you would like to forget having read.

If you read The Death Cure and died on page 250 you know what I am talking about. I got spoiled for a mind blowing part of the Maze Runner trilogy and even though I cried like a baby when I read it, I believe it would have been diferent if I didn’t knew about it, it would have surprised me and killed me.

8. IMPERIO: A book you had to read for school.

giphy

I read many books for school, I liked one. I just think that it would be better if they upgraded the books that we are forced to read to books that actually mean something to our society, that can make us better citizens.

The books I read gave an awesome ideia of what was the society in 1875 and 1717, it really does, but we should be reading about books that give us an ideia of the poor society we live in nowadays.

That’s why I liked “Felizmente há luar!” (fortunately there’s moonlight!) because, unlike the others, they talk about people that are willing to fight for what’s right and for what they believe in.

9. CRUCIO: A book that was painful to read.

Everything, Everything, I hated the main character, it was disappointing to read such a genuine ideia being thrown out.

10. AVADA KADAVRA: A book that could kill (interpret as you will).

Leigh Bardugo ia a genious and Six Of Crows took over my life. The back stories of the six main character can kill you, I am warning you, it is emotional as hell.

As I’ve said before, if someone ever decides to make an adaptation out of this duology, PLEASE, let me play Nina, I’ll probably kill an amazing adaptation but PLEASE!

1. What book/series got you into reading?

My godmother was the person that got me into reading, she always gave me tons of books that I devored, but my favorite series that I read and reread several times as a kid was Geronimo Stilton, to this day I still like to watch the cartoon and I am 17.

2. What are some of your favorite artists?

I am a music addict so this is a long list: Imagine Dragons, Halsey, The 1975. Fun., Panic! At the Disco, Ed Sheeran, Melanie Martinez, and I am currently obsessed with Gone Now by Bleachers.

3. What are some blogging tips you have for beginners?

I am a beginner myself so I am not the best person to give advice about that.

4. If your life-story was being turned into a movie, who would you want to play you?

Let’s face it, my life is too boring to be turned into a movie, but if I turn out to be the badass activist I aspire to be, then I want Lindsey Morgan to play me, not because we look alike but because she is able to kick every dictator’s butt herself.

5. If you could travel through time, would you go take a peek at the past or would you rather see what’s to come and go into the future?

I would go into the past to see if what they taught me in history class was true.

6. What’s your dream career/job?

7. What’s your favorite childhood movie?

When I was 7 years old, my cousin gave me a movie called Barbie and the Twelve Dancing Princesses, when I was older my favorite movie turned out to be Madagascar 3, I even remember seeing it with my godmother in cinema.

8. What was your favorite subject in school?

Math was my favourite subject and I think I was good at it, I actually scored 19/20 on my math exam. Math and books have the benefit of taking my mind of my problems.

9. Do you collect anything? If so, what is it that you collect?

Everytime I buy something, whether it is for me or a present for someone, I keep the receipt. Now I have a box full of them and I find it awesome how I can look at them and think “Oh, i remember buying this on this trip”.

Watching tv shows or movies.

11. If you could live anywhere in space (e.g. any planet, galaxy, star, moon, etc) where would you live and why?

I would still live in Earth because this is where all of the magic is happening, but I would love to travel through our galaxy, which would only be possible if I lived for thousands of years.
