Top 5 Thursday: Cover changes that blessed my soul // Fantasy

Hello fellow bookworms!

I bet you’ve already experienced the horror of having the hurge to buy a book, walking to the bookstore to get that beautiful book you saw on that booktube video and all of a sudden you see the book and it’s so ugly that you, actually, want to burn it (just kidding). I know that felling, I feel it from time to time!

But today, as the title already told ya, I won’t be talking about cover changes that ruined my aesthetic but book covers that changed and, actually, blessed my pour soul.

Here they are, the top 5 fantasy reads that changed their covers for something much more pleasing to the eye.

The first cover is the original cover of this book, the second one is the movie cover, which is the one I have. The original covers are good in the rest of the series, but I can’t stand the first one, I believe the second one is a more realistic version of what the maze looked like.

I do not have a problem with the original covers but the ones they released some years ago, you know, the ones that make the Hogwarts Castle when they’re alined are so much better.

My Harry Potter collection is a mix of many editions, I do not own the first book in physical format, I own the second one in english in this Bloomsbury edition, I have the third and fourth in the beautiful edition I just talked about, my fifth book has a british adult edition cover and I do not own the last ones yet.

You have eyes, you can see it, the original cover is super ugly and the second one has EVERYTHING to do with the book.

Let me tell you that I do not own a single Percy Jackson book but if I ever did, I would own the covers that came out most recently because the others are UGLY! I am not judging the books, the books are amazing, but the original covers… not so much.

There was nothing wrong with the original covers but I saw these new ones in a video from Hayley In Bookland and they are so pretty and so shiny.

#TheReadingQuest Wrap Up and Why I Am A Failure

Hello fellow bookworms!

Today I’ll be sharing with you the books I read for #TheReadingQuest, if you want you can go ahead and see which books where included in my TBR, but that doesn’t matter anymore because I read only 1 book from there.

I am writing this as fast as I can while I am waiting for the email that is going to tell me if I’ll be a student in the university I want, reason number 1 why I am doing it: IF I DON’T DO SOMETHING I AM GOING TO DIE OF ANXIETY! Reason number 2: If the email says a bad thing, then I’ll curl up in a ball and I’ll never blog again or do anything else.

Here they are, the book I read for #TheReadingQuest or, as I like to call it, one more reason why I suck.

And that’s a wrap, it took me 3 hours to make this whole post and the email hasn’t come yet. I’m going to read Cinder, I hope I can finish it before this readathon ends.

UPDATE: It is now almost 11pm of the next day and I just want to say that 1) I didn’t finish Cinder and 2) I got into the college I wanted!!

Did you participate in #TheReadingQuest?? If so, how many books did you read? Did you enjoy it?

Hogwarts House Book Recommendations // Ravenclaw

Hello, fellow bookworms!

Let’s take a moment for you to applaud me because I am writing this post with a week in advance, meaning: I am writing this post that is going live in a week because I’ve no idea of what I’ll be posting this week… Yeah! 😁 Besides, I promised myself I would only watch the new Teen Wolf episode after blogging.

I’ve already posted my book recommendations for my house mates, Gryffindores, and for the loyal, Hufflepuffes, today I’ll be recommend books to my sister’s house, Ravenclaw.

Percy Jackson is a good kid, but he can’t seem to focus on his schoolwork or control his temper. And lately, being away at boarding school is only getting worse—Percy could have sworn his pre-algebra teacher turned into a monster and tried to kill him. When Percy’s mom finds out, she knows it’s time that he knew the truth about where he came from, and that he go to the one place he’ll be safe. She sends Percy to Camp Half Blood, a summer camp for demigods (on Long Island), where he learns that the father he never knew is Poseidon, God of the Sea. Soon a mystery unfolds and together with his friends—one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena—Percy sets out on a quest across the United States to reach the gates of the Underworld (located in a recording studio in Hollywood) and prevent a catastrophic war between the gods.

This book doesn’t have the most wise characters but this series made me wiser, I was, basicaly, the only person who knew who Antaeus was in my class (even though I kept my mouth shut when the teacher asked because I’m too shy).

This is a world divided by blood – red or silver.

The Reds are commoners, ruled by a Silver elite in possession of god-like superpowers. And to Mare Barrow, a seventeen-year-old Red girl from the poverty-stricken Stilts, it seems like nothing will ever change.

That is, until she finds herself working in the Silver Palace. Here, surrounded by the people she hates the most, Mare discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy the balance of power.

Fearful of Mare’s potential, the Silvers hide her in plain view, declaring her a long-lost Silver princess, now engaged to a Silver prince. Despite knowing that one misstep would mean her death, Mare works silently to help the Red Guard, a militant resistance group, and bring down the Silver regime.

But this is a world of betrayal and lies, and Mare has entered a dangerous dance – Reds against Silvers, prince against prince, and Mare against her own heart.

Just because Mare doesn’t take shit from anyone…

A breathtaking journey toward self-discovery and true love, from the author of If I Stay.

When sheltered American good girl Allyson “LuLu” Healey first meets laid-back Dutch actor Willem De Ruiter at an underground performance of Twelfth Night in England, there’s an undeniable spark. After just one day together, that spark bursts into a flame, or so it seems to Allyson, until the following morning, when she wakes up after a whirlwind day in Paris to discover that Willem has left. Over the next year, Allyson embarks on a journey to come to terms with the narrow confines of her life, and through Shakespeare, travel, and a quest for her almost-true-love, to break free of those confines.

Sixteen-year-old Cinder is considered a technological mistake by most of society and a burden by her stepmother. Being cyborg does have its benefits, though: Cinder’s brain interference has given her an uncanny ability to fix things (robots, hovers, her own malfunctioning parts), making her the best mechanic in New Beijing. This reputation brings Prince Kai himself to her weekly market booth, needing her to repair a broken android before the annual ball. He jokingly calls it “a matter of national security,” but Cinder suspects it’s more serious than he’s letting on.

Although eager to impress the prince, Cinder’s intentions are derailed when her younger stepsister, and only human friend, is infected with the fatal plague that’s been devastating Earth for a decade. Blaming Cinder for her daughter’s illness, Cinder’s stepmother volunteers her body for plague research, an “honor” that no one has survived.

But it doesn’t take long for the scientists to discover something unusual about their new guinea pig. Something others would kill for.

Antecipated Releases For The Rest Of 2017

The first half of this year, 2017, was full with awesome movies, books and even tv shows coming out. This year we got to see Spiderman Homecoming, which I haven’t seen yet, and This Beautiful Fantastic, also the tv adaptation for Thirteen Reasons Why came out in March. In the bookish area the best releases for me were A Court Of Wings and Ruin and  The Gentleman’s Guide For Vice and Virtue, even though I haven’t picked up a single book that was released this year, besides a comic book that comes out in October.

This post, as it is explained in the title, is only dedicated to books, movies and tv shows that aren’t out yet.

July Wrap-Up

This month was my best reading month this year and I am extremely happy about it. Here are the books I read in July:

I started this book on the last day of June and I finished on July 2nd, this book was really easy to read because it was really fast passed and I got hooked to it very quickly. You can read my review about The Sea Of Monsters if you want a deeper view of my opinion on this book.

This book was much hard for me to get into, but once I got to half way through it, it became faster and the events started to happend very quickly, which was a blast to me. I must admit that I was almost able to figure out the ending when I was in the middle of this Sophie Kinsella’s book, but it was really fun to trying to figure it out, I was always full of doubts and thinking about conspiracy theories. Overall, I enjoyed this book, I gave it 3.5 stars and if you’re looking for a cute contemporary with fun characters and an intriguing plot, this is the book for you.

Now that I finally read Six of Crows, I regret to put it down for so long, because it was amazing, it is one of my favorite reads of 2017 and I can’t find a single flaw in it. Leigh Bardugo became my queen.

The characters from this books all have extensive stories worth telling and all have a porpuse for their lifes, Six Of Crows follows the prespectives of 6 different people and I must admit that there was not a single one I didn’t enjoy to read. The plot is unique and every time you think you figured the book out, you didn’t, I had so many theories through out the whole book and I still wasn’t able to figure out the mind blowing end.

I didn’t make a review for Six Of Crows, but there are some awesome ones all over the internet, I’ll link here and here two of them. Despite that, I created a Six Of Crows Dream Cast and I think that looks pretty cool.

– BOOKTUBE-A-THON WRAP UP –

Finished Books: 4

Number of Pages: 1189

Completed Challenges: 6

– Read a book in a day challenge & Read a book you “bought” because of the cover challenge

Random Illustrated Facts is everything I expected it to be, really fast paced and entertaining. The doodles in this book are amazing and some of these facts caught me off guard.

Did you know that carrots used to be purple and they are actually bad for rabbits? Also, it seems that, in Georgia, it is illegal to curse in front of a dead body.

This book isn’t out yet, it was kindly sent to me by Net Galley. Random Illustrated Facts comes out October 31st and you need to trust me when I say that whoever you are and whatever you like, you’ll find this book enjoyable. Here you’ll find facts about history, animals, food, science and overall just some random stuff that will have you shocked, and you can be a walking encyclopedia of weirdness just like Sheldon Cooper.

– Read a hyped book challenge & Read a book with a character that is very diferent from you.

The Titan’s Curse was a book that I tought I was going to enjoy more than I did, don’t get me wrong, I liked it, but I had higher expectations for it because I hadn’t been spoiled with a movie like in the first two. It turned out to be an okay read on the first half of it, but as soon you-know-who does you-know-what and is sacrificed for the others that were also in the quest, I started to get attatched to it and I very much enjoyed the end of it.

I gave this book 3.5 stars and I am currently reading the forth book in the series which is The Battle Of The Labyrinth.

– Read a book outdoors

When I was a little kid, I used to watch a cartoon based on The Little Prince, I watched it everyday, I remember when me and my sister talked about the adventure of that day’s episode or of how cute the fox was. Because of that, reading this book brought a warm feeling to my soul.

This book brought back the kid that I once was sitting across the table from my sister looking at the tv, the little kid that didn’t have marks on her face for frowning too much, the kid who didn’t care about adult’s problems, the friend that the little prince was so desperate to find.

Now, I fully understand what the friendship between the rose and the Little Prince means and the quote “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.” has now a different meaning that it did an hour ago, when I started reading this book.

– Read a book with a person on the cover

“In that moment, Blue was a little in love with all of them. Their magic. Their quest. Their awfulness and strangeness. Her raven boys.”

I can’t express my feelings for this book, it was great and you seriously need to read it, you’ll love it, I promess you, and then you’ll understand what i feel. I can’t organize my opinions about it, and I am really sad because of it, I don’t know what to say without spoiling the whole book, so will just tell you some bits and pieces.

The Dream Thieves is a book that keeps you addicted from the first page, I felt like this book was mostly based on the relashionships between the main characters, especially Ronan. Also I need to say that I am so in love with him (yes, I know he is a fictional character) that I feel like if I don’t find someone exactly like him, I’ll die without ever having a boyfriend.

Again, as I am not able to express myself enough, I’ll leave links here and here that will guide you to two amazing review for The Dream Thieves.

I hope you all had an amazing month of July and a wish you all an awesome August full of reading and getting over huge TBR piles. 😘

Booktube-A-Thon Day 1

Hello book lovers and happy Booktube-a-Thon!!!

As I said on my previous posts, I’ll be posting daily updates for booktube-a-thon here in the next morning, so here it is the updates for day 1. Sorry for publishing it so late today.

Booktube-A-Thon TBR

Hi fellow booklovers.

I’ve been planning this reading challenge for a while and after many days of indecision, I think I have built my TBR for this year’s Booktube-a-thon.

If you never heard of Booktube-a-thon before it is a reading challenge where people come together to read as many books as they can in one week. During this week they host challenges, giveaways and competitions and many people join booktube-a-thon such as famous booktubers and even authors. This reading challenge was created by Ariel Bisset and you can find more information in the booktube-a-thon youtube channel and website.

Personally, I don’t own a youtube channel, I guess I’m too shy for that, but I want to participate anyways so I’m going to join it. I won’t be reading the book that Ariel picked because it is not published in my language and I can’t find it anywhere.

Here’s my TBR:

1. Read a book with a person on the cover:

For this one I’m choosing The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater, I really enjoyed The Raven Boys but I can’t get attached to the second book in the series for some reason. Since it is booktube-a-thon, I decided I’m going to push through and try to read this book, because I bet that this series is amazing.

5871d6a6ea282ea977033a7144216573

2. Read a hyped book:

I am finally giving up and I’ll reading City Of Bones by Cassandra Clare, and I want to read this for 3 reasons: Sebastian Morgenstern (and I got a huge spoiler about him on pinterest just now), I want to read The Infernal Devices and I want to read The Dark Artificies.

4c7a0cc855d5f6b72e31add3adb9c5b0.jpg

3. Finish a book in one day:

Random Illustrated Facts  by Mike Lowery was a illustrated book sent to me by Net Galley so I could review it, I’m actually having a bit of a problem with downloading it but I believe this is the one I’m going to read in one day. Besides it must be short and fast paced so I’m really looking forward to reading it.

4. Read about a character that is very different from you:

For this, I’m going to choose The Titan’s Curse by Rick Riordan. Do I need to explain why me and Percy are so different? I mean he fights monsters and gods and I’m on my couch practically all day.

5080222fda132b88cb855293dd2598b8.jpg

5. Finish a book completly outdoors:

I hope to get this over as soon as possible because out there is worst than the dessert during the day, I think I’ll burn to death if I step outside, so I’ll be reading The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery (I hope I got that name right). I saw a cartoon when I was a kid about the adventures of the little prince and I believe I’ll really enjoy it.

6. Read  a book you bought because of the cover:

10600242

I fell in love with this cover and this is a feminist manifesto, it is called How to be a woman by Caitlin Moran and I hope to read it during Booktube-a-thon.

7. Read seven books:

I am also planning on continuing to read the Harry Potter series, so I’ll be reading Harry Potter and the Goblet Of Fire by J.K. Rowling, this doesn’t need introduction, if you don’t know Harry Potter: have you been living under a rock?; if you don’t like Harry Potter, what are you doing with your life?

This is my Booktube-a-thon TBR and I really hope that I can finish these 7 books, I probably won’t but I can dream.

Hope you enjoyed this post, if you did check out my other posts.
